Cameron from the Hive shows the Digital committee how to solder electrical components.

Our first guest speaker for Semester 1, was Cameron from the Hive who came to show the Digital Committee girls how to solder. Chrissie was particularly keen to learn more about soldering as she noticed that it connects with her VET course in Electrical Engineering.

In the photo above, you can see the model The Paris Flyer that the Digital Committee is making and it requires a solar panel to be connected for parts to move.

Please write a comment below to tell the Committee about what you learnt in this session.

Thank you to Cameron for bringing his equipment and for taking his time to help the Digital committee improve their soldering skills.

This was a wonderful opportunity to learn how to solder properly and learn more about the different components of a circuit. This I can say does relate back to my VET course which is all about circuitry. I remember that Cameron did bring up what a diode was and literally, the day after this meeting at my VET course we were introduced to the diode! (For those wondering, a diode is a component found in a circuit used to direct the current flowing through the wires in one direction to prevent short-circuits, and it’s commonly found in the wiring of solar panels). Anyways, I really enjoyed this session and found it extremely helpful. A big thanks to Cameron for setting aside his lunchtime to come to show us how to solder!
